Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var capitata), commonly known as Pattagobh or Bandha gobhi in Hindi, is an important crop of cole group. It is commonly used as salad, cole slaw, boiled and cooked in curries. Recently it has become most important ingredient of fast food. Cabbage is a rich source of minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium and phosphorus. It has substantial amount of b-carotene (pro-vitamin A.) ascorbic acid, riboflavin, niacin and thiamine. It has anti-carcinogenic properties and protects against bowl and other cancerous diseases. It has number of medicinal properties. In ayurvedic medicine, cabbage leaves are prescribed for cough, fever, skin diseases, peptical ulcer, urinary discharge and haemorrhoids
